What Is the Goal of Therapy? (Video)
The goal of therapy isn’t to make you perfectly happy - it’s to help you become integrated 🧠
Integration means linking the different parts of your mind and body into a flowing whole. When you’re integrated, you live in what Dan Siegel calls the “river of integration” - flexible, adaptive, energized, and resilient.
But when parts of you aren’t connected, you fall into either:
• Chaos (emotional volatility, feeling out of control)
• Rigidity (stuck in the same patterns over and over)
In therapy, we create safety for these disconnected parts to start communicating again. We practice noticing what’s happening in your body, making sense of your story, and finding new ways to respond.
It’s not about fixing yourself - it’s about helping all parts of you work together.
Have you ever noticed yourself getting stuck in chaos or rigidity? What does that look like for you?
